Walking is very much a part of our daily life that we sometimes take it for granted. We do leisurely walk all the time but it is brisk walking which gives us the ultimate results.
Walking for 30 minutes a day is the most ideally recommended exercise. If you can’t do 30 minutes straight walk, you could break it down with a 3 ten minutes walk. A brisk exercise is the best way of walking yourself to fitness.
A very good way of checking whether you are doing an effective brisk walking is to do a €talk test€ wherein you have to check whether you can still manage to talk well and be understood while walking. You shouldn’t be gasping for air or else you are doing the walking exercise wrong.
When you aim to slim down, walking exercise is recommended to be at least 40 minutes a day and at least 5 times a week. Brisk walking would best achieve this goal. Walking helps in the slimming down in ways beyond what sweating can do. More than the exertion of the muscles, walking helps in the control of your appetite. You are less likely to devour food as your system is not so welcoming of any food at any time.
Craving is controlled and whether this is because of a physical reaction or a psychological reaction is an open question but the most important thing is, it is indeed an effective way of controlling one’s food cravings. And since walking helps in the attainment and development of good posture, it follows that you would eventually see a very good body alignment giving the picture of a slimmer body.
Beyond the conscious needs of an adult for a healthy and slimmer body, let’s go back to the daily needs of kids, especially toddlers to do a good amount of walking every day. Kids, especially toddlers, have a need to be constantly mobile.
Drop the stroller if and when you can and give your tots the walking time and walking exercise they deserve. Walking helps them strengthen their leg muscles and help them in the development of their sense of balance. The longer they walk, the stronger their confidence becomes. Besides, walking is very much a part of a child’s life. Don’t take this away from him.
Walking has great benefits to the older or senior citizens. Just when you thought your joints have become so stiff and immovable because of old age and you have resigned yourself to that fact, reconsider walking and make it a part of your daily routine and you will be surprised by the improvement that walking will have on your joints.
And then, of course, walking will help you build stronger muscles and this will enable you to go around with confidence knowing that your body is equipped with the necessary strength brought about by your regular walking exercise.
You have the option to walk at any time when you are comfortable and convenient. But the best time to do so is early morning when you are not busy and you do not compete your walking time with other concerns. This way, you get to enjoy it rather than get pressured by it.
